Special Notices

NOTE: Looking ahead to the 2016-17, Sacred Heart has two openings for religious education teachers. We need a Grade 3 teacher to help prepare eight students to receive their First Holy Communion. Third grade students meet on Mondays from 4:00 to 5:00 p.m. We also need a Grade 6 teacher for eight students who meet on Mondays from 7:00 to 8:00 p.m. If you are interested or have any questions, please contact Carol at 860-257-0740.

Thank you to the Sacred Heart Men's Club!

The Sacred Heart Men's Club made a substantial donation of $1,000 to the Church which will be applied to the fund to repair the belfry and bell. Thank you, gentlemen, for your generosity!

Please remember us when you go on vacation . . .

Simply put, summer vacations affect weekly collections! When you return, please feel free to drop "old envelopes" in the collection basket. We are grateful to all who continue to support Sacred Heart Parish with your prayers and sacrificial contributions.

Volunteer Opportunity

Can you speak, read, and write English fluently? Do you have a few free hours a week in the mornings? Would you like to be part of a friendly and welcoming community of people from all over the world? Consider becoming a volunteer teacher of ESOL (English for Speakers of Other Languages) at Jubilee House! No language skills other than fluency in English are required. No prior experience is needed. Jubilee House provides the curriculum and materials and there are two semesters:  January through May and September through December.

Jubilee House is a ministry of the Sisters of St. Joseph of Chambery and a program of the House of Bread. It is located at 40 Clifford Street in Hartford (next to St. Augustine’s School). For more information or to schedule a visit, please call Sister Anne Brown at 860-247-3030 ext. 108 or email anne.brown@jubileehouse.org.

Sacred Heart Adult Choir

The choir rehearses every Tuesday evening from 6:30 to 8:00 p.m. to learn the music for the weekend Mass and any upcoming special events such as family Masses, feast days, and our annual joint Mass with the Korean Catholic Community of Connecticut usually held in September.

We encourage vocalists and instrumentalists of all abilities to participate in a rehearsal. Consider joining us for Sunday Mass and other special Masses.
