Music Ministry

Make a joyful noise unto the Lord, all ye lands.
Serve the Lord with gladnesscome before His presence with singing.    Psalm 100
The music ministry of Sacred Heart Parish is led by Thad Terzo, Music Director and organist.  The ministry also includes two groups of vocalists, an adult choir and a youth choir, and a group of instrumentalists. Each member gives their time and talent and allows God to make the final, beautiful result of their efforts much greater than the sum of the individual parts.
The Adult Choir is a small but vibrant group of singers that rehearses in the choir loft every Tuesday evening from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. and from 9:00 to 10:00 a.m. on Sundays before Mass.
The Children's Choir, currently under the direction of Nora Uricchio and Mary Tyler, has been in existence for about fifteen years. Starting in the first grade, young singers join with adult choir members in singing at all the "Family Masses" as well as Masses for First Communion and Confirmation. Instrumentalists for the Family Masses include young people playing percussion, guitar, and clarinet to blend a contemporary feel with traditional sounds to enhance the Liturgy music. The Children's Choir rehearses on Monday afternoons from 3:30 to 4:00 p.m.
Sacred Heart's music ministry is not limited to the celebration of the Mass or church services.  Music is integrated into the CCD program through weekly visits to the classrooms and regular collaboration of the music ministers and the CCD program directors and teachers to support community outreach visits to places such as the Wethersfield Healthcare Center.
We have a very active music ministry here at Sacred Heart Parish. Like our parish itself, "the little parish with a big heart," together we make a huge, beautiful sound -- a truly joyful noise!
In memory of our long-time cantor, Diane Grieco RIP - March 10, 2014.
